This is a review for the Small Batch "Hella Hot" version of Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce in a 15.5oz bottle. I have a pretty high Scoville tolerance, but the hubby does not; however, we both LOVE this sauce. We like to use it for added spiciness in our noodle bowls and teriyaki with rice dishes. It's also great as a dip for chicken wings when mixed with a less intense sauce, whether soy or garlic Bachan's. Bachan is our "Go To" condiment for any type of asian dishes, and this sauce doesn't disappoint. Just note that if you don't like super spicy flavors, you'll want to go with very light use as I'd rate this a 7 in spiciness on my own personal scale. The bottle has a seal on it that you remove when you unscrew the top, so it's pretty fresh. The sauce is a medium thickness, not thick and probably closer to a watery consistency.Overall, we absolutely love the spiciness of this sauce, but use it moderately if you don't want to nuke your taste buds! It's great for any Asian dish, as well as dipping sauces.

Hotness is so subjective, a lot of times something is labeled as spicy and I barely taste any heat. This is not one of those times. When I see a major brand talk about something being very hot, I'm usually suspect. They were not joking when they called this sauce hella hot. It's right on the edge of my comfort zone and there is a good flavor it adds outside the heat. This is the perfect Goldilocks hot sauce for me, especially for my chicken and rice bowls.

The Hella Hot version of Bachan's builds on that flavor by adding a strong kick of chili that will kick your butt if you're not ready for it! I had it on a beef and rice bowl and I loved it! It's great with a little bit of pickled cucumber salad to balance out the heat- perfection! I can't wait to try this on noodle dishes, because I already know it's gonna taste freaking awesome! The price is comparable to what I'd pay for Bachan's at the grocery store. It arrived fresh with the seal intact- I'm very happy with the quality of this Bachan's sauce!
