How to Use
Grind illy Classico Whole Beans fresh before every brew — fine for espresso (7–9g per shot, tamp firmly, 9 bar, 25–30 sec extraction), medium-fine for pour over or drip at 90–96°C (194–205°F) using 60g per liter, medium-fine for moka pot (fill basket level, do not tamp, brew over medium heat, remove when coffee begins to flow), and coarse for French press (60g per liter, steep 4 minutes, press slowly). Both Classico and Decaffeinated share identical brewing parameters — only the caffeine content differs. Caramel and jasmine notes are especially pronounced in filter and pour over brewing. Store tin resealed, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

I subscribed to this coffee every 6 weeks. This is a really a good quality arabica coffee. I make myself a decaf cappuccino everyday. It’s dark, nutty, smooth, nicely roasted. I also bought the regular intenso coffee. The intenso is perfect for espresso!

I wasn't going to write a review because there are almost 10,000 already posted, so I realize this review will not likely ever be read. That said, I've been pulling espresso shots on my 60 lbs Italian espresso machine for the last 15 years, and can't believe how tasty Illy's Decaf Whole Bean Coffee is. I usually buy Blue Bottle Hayes Valley for my morning Americano, which they roast within 2 weeks of delivery, so I wasn't expecting much with this decaf. Uh, I was wrong and why Illy doesn't advertise that they use a more cleaner process (CO2) for their decaf is a miss. I would market that front and center given that Illy's decaf isn’t decaffeinated with harsh chemical solvents; it uses the CO₂ method, which is generally less likely to leave chemical residues and doesn’t use synthetic pesticide-related processing agents in the decaffeination stage itself. Bravo Illy. I love this decaf and get to enjoy coffee outside of the morning hours. The quality of your decaf is spot on, as is your roast, which produces a naturally sweet shot of chocolate notes with no acidity.
This is all a matter of taste, but this is the best and most consistent coffee I have found for my Jura E6.Like any coffee, the flavor is enhanced with a new water filter and double-filtered water, as well as regular cleaning and descaling. If you are on a budget and do not want to pay this much try those things first. Regardless, do those things.It is probably also the priciest, but what will we not pay for great coffee?I would prefer a larger can if it would save money. It is a half-step above the LaVazza Creme, which has the advantage in coming in 1kg bags for a little less.I have had some subscription issues, but that is the fault (I suppose) of tariffs and not the coffee.10/10 will continue to buy regardless of price.
For a decaf for use in my automatic Delonghi espresso machine, I would rate this pretty highly. It does produce some crema but not as much as Lavazzo Super Crema, which is my overall preferred coffee bean. However, the Illy is good for when I want to go to decaf for awhile. On the can dents ... yes, with shipping in a bag, as opposed to a box, the cans are going to be dented since they are made from very thin material. As long as the seal is broken, I don't mind this at all. Besides, the whole can is going to be dumped into the bean hopper on opening, so this is not an issue that should bother anybody.
