Frequently Asked Questions

What does '100% Italian' mean on Kirkland Signature Extra Virgin Olive Oil?
Kirkland Signature 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced exclusively from olives grown in Italy — not a blend of oils from multiple countries. This single-origin designation guarantees authentic Italian provenance and the distinctive flavor profile of Italian-grown olives. It is cold extracted and unrefined, meeting the strict standards required for the extra virgin grade.

Can I use Kirkland Signature Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil for cooking or only for finishing?
Kirkland Signature Italian EVOO is best used for finishing dishes, dressings, dipping, and light to medium heat cooking such as sautéing and roasting at moderate temperatures. Its smoke point is lower than refined olive oils, so it is not ideal for deep frying or very high-heat applications. Its bold Italian flavor shines brightest when used raw or added at the end of cooking.

Does Kirkland Signature Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil contain any allergens?
Kirkland Signature 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from 100% Italian-grown olives with no additives. It does not contain common allergens such as gluten, dairy, nuts, or soy. It is Kosher certified (U P) by the Orthodox Union. Always check the product label for the most current allergen information.

How should I store Kirkland Signature 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil?
Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odors. Avoid storing near the stove or in warm pantries. Do not refrigerate. Once opened, use within 12–18 months for optimal freshness. The 2L bulk size is best suited for households that use extra virgin olive oil regularly.

What is cold extraction and why does it matter for olive oil quality?
Cold extraction means the olives are pressed at low temperatures without heat or chemical solvents. This preserves the full natural polyphenols, antioxidants, flavor compounds, and aroma at their peak. Cold extraction is the only method that produces true extra virgin olive oil — the highest grade — with maximum nutritional and flavor integrity.

Good Stuff at a Good Price

The oil tastes delicious, and we use olive oil in everything we cook. Olive oil keeps better if it is stored in something other than a clear container, and the green plastic works. The two large bottles last a while... I use a funnel to put the oil in a cruet, so it's easier to handle than the large bottle.Very happy with this product and highly recommend it.

I don't even like olive oil!!! But...

Ok, I'm not a huge fan or connoisseur of olive oil, I'm also cheap! I don't like spending tons of money on cooking oils. I just know what I like and what I don't like. I usually don't prefer olive oils for recipes or cooking because it adds too much of a flavor I don't care for. When I'm cooking, I don't want to taste the oil I use. I honestly never liked the grassiness, bitterness or other flavors that olive oil strongly imparted to my food. I want to taste my spices and seasonings, not be turned off by the oil. I tried some highly expensive olive oil for recipes to see what all the fuss was about. I actually really enjoyed that bottle. However, the brand I bought was not available to purchase again and I was disappointed. The small bottle went quickly and cost a good penny, so, I'm kind of glad it wasn't available at that time because I decided to purchase this and give it a go. I’m so happy I decided to try it. I love this olive oil!!! It's every bit as good as that expensive bottle. I'm glad I bought 2 huge bottles of this stuff. It's great. It's not overpowering but I feel as though it's healthier and I try to use it for many recipes. It would be great for homemade salad dressings without overpowering your herbs and vinegars. If you're an olive oil snob, I think you should try this just to compare. You might be surprised too!
