I am very happy with this sauce. Fairly thick and rich. Smells lovely when heated. It is well blended- not much in the way of chunks at all. 'All Natural' doesn't seem to add to the cost of this product. Gluten free, and no preservatives as an added bonus. I use this sauce as a base for additional ingredients. Usually I add fresh garlic, cayenne, olive oil, and whatever else. However, the sauce can stand on its own as well.Shelf life is very long (2+ years) but should be used within 5 days of opening the jar.

This is an outstanding product: quality ingredients have high nutritional value. I previously ordered this product a few times and was completely satisfied. Unfortunately, the last delivery that came on 8 January was problematic. Part of the box was open at the end of the package. Worst of all, the pasta sauce was spilled across all four jars. One of the jars had an open lid, the loose lid looked unclean. I decided that using this batch was unwise. I won't be ordering this product again.

Typically, I'm not a fan of jarred sauces. Particularly with marinara sauces I've found that even if at their root, all the ingredients are fresh, well balanced, and tasty, if AND ONLY IF you're a sodium fan. Therein, lies the problem, for me at least, that I've found in jarred sauces of this nature. I find them all to be terribly salty. Fortunately, I've got a century-plus old family recipe to turn to and, about half the time I want a marinara sauce I will have pre planned properly and will make it. More often, though, I'm looking for less work in and particularly less time in kitchen, provided I need not significantly cut corners on quality. Somehow I stumbled across this Barilla sauce, read several of the great reviews and tossed it into my Subscribe & Save bin. We typically have a pasta dinner weekly. for this marinara sauce I saute up some pieces of bell pepper and onion; Then add in a pound of cooked ground bison (found at Costco). The best I can summarize this review is to write that I believe one would be hard-pressed to find an easier, more delicious meat sauce for one's pasta. Salud!

Barilla's sauces are markedly better than those such as Ragu and Prego, likely because the ingredients (oils, tomatoes and spices) are of higher grades. The taste, feel and smell are all in the same ballpark of what one would tend to find in a good trattoria. The glass jars may also help out in all this and what's more, when washed are handy for other things.
