Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickles: Naturally Fermented with No Vinegar

  • Simple ingredients — cucumbers, artesian well water, salt, garlic, dill, spices, mustard seed, and calcium chloride
  • No preservatives, no added sugar — 0 g added sugar and 0 calories per 1 oz serving, with 270 mg sodium
  • Non-GMO Project Verified, OU Kosher, gluten free — all three marks are printed on the jar
  • Cloudy brine is normal — the label says to shake the jar until cloudy before serving
  • 16 fl oz (473 mL) glass jar — about 10 servings of one half pickle each; product of Canada

How to Use

Shake the jar until the brine turns cloudy, then serve the pickles cold. They work whole or sliced on burgers, hot dogs, and grilled cheese, chopped into egg or tuna salad, or on a cheese board. Refrigerate the jar as soon as it arrives and keep it refrigerated with the lid closed until the last pickle is gone.

About Bubbies

Bubbies Fine Foods started in 1982 in Ventura, California, taking its name from the Yiddish word for grandmother and the old-world, salt-brine pickling style that Eastern European Jewish grandmothers used. The company makes fermented pickles and horseradish condiments without vinegar in its classic recipes. Browse more in our Canned & Packaged Food collection. Learn more at bubbies.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickles contain allergens or vinegar?
The ingredient list is cucumbers, artesian well water, salt, garlic, dill, spices, mustard seed, and calcium chloride. There is no vinegar, no preservatives, and no added sugar. Mustard seed is a listed ingredient, which matters for anyone with a mustard allergy, so read the printed label on the jar you receive before serving.

How should I store and serve Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickles?
Refrigerate the jar as soon as it arrives and keep it refrigerated with the lid closed at all times. Shake until the brine turns cloudy, then serve the pickles cold, whole or sliced, on sandwiches or a cheese board, or chopped into egg and tuna salad.

What is the difference between Bubbies Kosher Dill and Bubbies Baby Kosher Dill Pickles?
Both jars use the same naturally fermented salt brine with garlic, dill, spices, and no vinegar. The Kosher Dill jar holds full-size pickles, while the Baby Kosher Dill jar holds smaller pickles that are easier to portion for snacking or a party tray. Sodium and calories per serving are nearly identical.

Bought on a whim

While being sick with Covid, I got sick of the food I was eating, which was very basic. After looking up a tuna salad recipe, I got these pickles as a side. I hadn't meant to buy the spicy kind, but I decided to give them a try.I am suprised by how good these are. Crisp with eat bite, and just the right amount of spicy. My new go-to favorites. I've already eaten nearly the whole bottle! I will be buying more.

Time to correct your label

Don't get me wrong. Bubbies are the BEST!! Don Hermann and Ba-Tampte take a close back seat, HOWEVER, it's time to update your label, as its been quite some time now since you started adding calcium chloride, A PRESERVATIVE, to your ingredients, therefore, "no preservatives" is misleading. There is no shame or danger in calcium chloride -- just take it in stride, and correct your label, so you are being up front with consumers.

No vinegar means cloudy water. Fermented Pickle not a Vinegar brined Pickle

To understand these is to understand the process in which these are made. They are fresh pickles soaked in salt brine and not at all a vinegar water pickle. Hence the weird taste and color of the brine.

Fermented but they’re still in vinegar

Enjoyable eating experience. If you’re not accustomed to fermented veggies or plain kefirs, the tartness may surprise you. I find it quite pleasant, followed by a bit of heat that builds, followed by a bit of cucumber skin bitterness.Mainstream pickles are crunchy from an aluminum additive, or at least that’s what i have heard. Bubbie’s is pleasantly crunchy but dont expect the same crunch as traditional pickles.Since these cucumbers are fermented, they may have post biotic benefits, but i wonder if the vinegar negates them. Please note, not all Bubbie’s cucumber products are fermented. Look for the word “fermented” on the front of the label.

Love 'em. Fermented, not pickled with vinegar.

I was raised on fermented pickles. I LOVE them. The more sour, the better. And I don't mind if they are soft rather than crunchy, those are the truly sour ones. I love Bubbies pickles because it is reminiscent of what I grew up with. No vinegar added to these. I love their spicy ones even more. I hope Amazon Fresh will begin offering them more regularly. I'm a lazy fan who doesn't want to run to the local grocery store for them. But I will if I have too... lol

Expensive but delicious

My all time favorite pickles. Wish they sold these more places. Also wish they were cheaper but if you're looking for a great tasting, slightly spicy, crunchy pickle this is your go to.

Most Delicious Pickles in The Universe.

These are the tastiest pickles in the world. Ibuy no others, ever. The brine is addictive. So tasty I flavor sauces with it. The pickles - perfection. Crunch and soft middle. So delicious I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS keep in the fridge. I once paid $27 dollars for a jar. I’d do it again. I’m going to have one now.

Truly fermented, no vinegar

If you are looking for TRULY fermented pickles without any vinegar to achieve a "pickle" taste and flavor these are for you. I was so happy to finally find pickles that don't list vinegar. Some may not realize but to get health benefits from pickles they need to be fermented ( a lengthy process that requires more care and timing) and many pickles manufacturers just use vinegar which is in my book an abomination.

Perfection

The pickles were smaller than normal, but 100% tasty. This is my absolute favorite brand of pickles. Fermentation takes time, which means they're pricier than other pickles made from vinegar.

The real deal for gut health and amazing flavor!

I originally bought these Bubbies Kosher Dills for the probiotic benefits, and they definitely deliver. You can tell immediately that these are the real deal, they taste incredibly fresh and high-quality. Unlike typical store-bought pickles, these have a unique, authentic crunch and flavor that sets them apart. If you're looking for a fermented pickle that actually tastes great, this is it.

Not Your Average Pickle

I really like these pickles. They're fermented, not pickled in the ordinary manner, so their taste and texture will be different than what many customers are used to. The peppers are tangy but not hot. The pickles definitely have a peppery flavor; but they are not all that spicy. The liquid is SUPPOSED to be cloudy. I encourage customers to shake the jar before opening every use.Anyway, I encourage you to give these a try. You may or may not like them; but you will never know until you give them a chance. Thumbs up from me!
