illy Classico Moka: Medium Roast Arabica Ground for Stovetop Brewing
- Moka pot grind — a coarser grind than espresso, matched to the pressure of a stovetop moka pot
- Classico Medium Roast — mild and balanced with caramel, orange blossom, and jasmine notes
- 100 percent Arabica illy blend — a single blend of Arabica beans selected for a consistent everyday cup
- Pressurized tin for freshness — nitrogen-flushed can seals in aroma from roasting until the tin is opened
- Not for drip machines — this grind is coarser than a drip grind; illy sells a separate drip version
- 8.8 oz (250 g) tin, made in Italy — roasted by illycaffè in Trieste; sold as a single tin or pack of 6
How to Use
Fill the moka pot's bottom chamber with cold water up to the safety valve. Fill the filter basket level with the ground coffee without tamping, screw the top chamber on firmly, and place the pot on medium heat. Remove it as soon as coffee begins to flow into the upper chamber, then pour and serve right away. Store the opened tin tightly closed in a cool, dry cupboard.
About illy

Frequently Asked Questions
Does illy Classico Moka Ground Coffee contain allergens?
No. The tin contains only 100 percent Arabica roasted ground coffee, with no added flavorings, milk, nuts, gluten, or soy. It is naturally free of major allergens. As with any imported food product, check the printed label on the tin for the current ingredient statement and best-before date.
What is the difference between illy Classico Moka and illy Classico Espresso grind?
Both use the same illy Classico 100 percent Arabica blend, but the grind size differs. Moka grind is coarser than espresso grind, matched to the pressure and extraction dynamics of a stovetop moka pot. Using the wrong grind for your brewer can lead to under- or over-extraction.
Is illy Classico Moka Ground Coffee suitable for drip coffee makers?
This tin is ground specifically for moka pot preparation, so it is coarser than a drip grind. illy sells a separate ground drip version for filter and drip machines. Using this moka grind in a drip machine may extract unevenly and taste weaker than expected.
Is illy Classico Moka Ground Coffee made in Italy?
Yes. illy Classico Moka Ground Coffee is roasted, ground, and packed by illycaffè in Trieste, Italy, in the 8.8 oz (250 g) pressurized tin, using the same Classico recipe and moka grind sold across Europe, not a reformulated US version.
