Absolutely love these. I buy 5 or 6 at a time. The flavor the crunch the salt just a perfect match and my favorite pretzel to enjoy. If you haven’t tried Splits please do. I had tried the other flavors but I’ll stick with these as first choice and sometimes the extra dark for the extra burnt type flavor.

My grandmother used to buy these in bulk in giant clear bags from the factory, once upon a time. They were considered "seconds" (she said) but got the name "specials" probably because locals loved them (?). This is my memory, at least. I loved them then and I love them now, all gussied up in their own fancy bags distributed far away from PA. There's also a sour dough whole grain variety shaped liked chunky rings (exquisite).

I have bought these 2-3 times already. I like them because they are not too salty tasting and have a rich malty flavor to them. They are kind of hard but that is to be expected.I read that there is an extra dark version that came out high on a review list of hard pretzels and I want to try that one too sometime in the future but they don't seem to sell it here on Amazon Fresh but do have it on regular Amazon Prime. I am wary of buying food items that might get crushed on regular Amazon Prime though as I have read a lot of horror stories about that kind of food being shipped.
